Meet the Beat:

The Beat Goes On Marching Band is an all-adult marching band committed to delighting Northwest and National audiences while reliving the best parts of the marching band experience. The band is known for its feel-good attitude, emphasis on audience interaction, and spontaneity on the street and on stage. It’s not unusual for some of our musicians to leave the band block during a parade and play improvised solos to parade watchers.

TBGO features a high-energy, brassy, rock ‘n’ roll style—we may be a marching band, but we’d rather play Lady Gaga than John Philip Sousa! The band includes a dance team, color guard, and twirling squad with ages ranging from 20’s to 80’s.

Band Pin. A really fun band pin that goes with just about everything you wear because it has such great colors (green, yellow, blue, pink on a purple background). It has the same retro logo font as the jackets.

Logo Band Fanny Pack. For support at this reward level, you get the same logo fanny pack that band members don for parades. For band members, it holds music, flip folders, mouthpieces, reeds, a water bottle, and much more! For mere mortals who may or may not play an instrument, the fanny pack can hold all kinds of knick-knacks like keys, wallet, notepads, pens, sunglasses, toy poodle, and much much more. Every time you strap this baby on, we hope you’ll think of us.

TBGO performs year-round at many local events in and around the Portland-Metropolitan area. We also perform at major regional events like the Seattle Seafair Torchlight Parade and the Pendleton Round-Up.

The great thing about being a member of TBGO is that, in addition to doing something we truly love and enjoy, we get to bring joy to the lives of others. TBGO performs at all kinds of events—parades (obviously), stage shows, civic, corporate, charitable, patriotic, holiday – even weddings, birthdays, and funerals.

Since we perform year-round, we need different uniforms for different weather conditions. Summer finds us in our fabulous t-shirts and khaki shorts. For winter, we need more to keep warm than just our formal polos and turtlenecks. The band needs JACKETS!!!

Band Hat. Wanna be part of the cool crowd? For this reward level, you get one our trendy parade baseball-style caps with the band logo on the front. The black brim with stone colored chevron adds lots of cool factor! Whether or not you were part of the cool crowd in high school, you’ll definitely stand out as one of the cool kids when you sport this distinctive cap! And it will be a great reminder of your support for our project.

Band Polo Shirt. For events requiring a more formal look, the band wears these purple polos. The left front of the polo has the band’s logo. Purple is very in and you’ll be stylin’ in one of these polos.

Winter is coming! And we need to outfit the band with TBGO jackets. Members have already shelled out a fair amount of money from their own pockets for other uniform parts, and they pay their own travel expenses. For many members, this is not a small chunk of change.

The jackets cost a little more than $12,000, but we’re hoping we can raise at least $6,000 through this project. Any additional amount raised will go towards covering remaining jacket costs.

The band is a throwback and so are the jackets—traditional lettermen’s jackets just like many of you wore in high school.

The jacket is shown below. The design features a royal purple Pendleton wool body and black Pendleton wool sleeves. The shoulders have stone colored leather gussets. The back of the jacket has the band’s logo. The band is very excited about the jackets and they are arriving just in time for our cold-weather events.

Band T-Shirt. These Tees are truly a work of art. We had these specially designed for the band and we just started using these at the Hillsboro, Oregon 4th of July Parade. We like to think these shirts were ‘born on the 4th of July’. The front of the shirt is a parade street scene with the band coming toward you. The back of the shirt shows the band from the back marching away. I see something new every time I look at my shirt. If you support our project at this level, your friends will be blown away when they see you in this purple t-shirt.

We hope our supporters get a deep feeling of satisfaction knowing that every contribution makes a difference in our ability to keep the band on the street … but man does not live by satisfaction alone, so we’d also like to offer fun band souvenirs as tangible rewards. This is the same gear that the band uses in performance, so wear yours proudly as part of the group! If you contribute enough, you can even get one of the terrific new jackets. Check out the column at right for all the opportunities.

And while you may be the first on your block with TBGO merch, we hope you’re not alone – help us by spreading the word so your friends can grab their own souvenirs before they’re all gone. TBGO is a 501(c)(3) organization, so any amount you send is tax deductible less the value of the reward you receive.

Thanks for taking a look at our project. We’re grateful for any amount you send our way, and please know that your support will let us keep putting smiles on the faces of thousands of watchers no matter what Mother Nature throws our way.

The Jacket!!! At this support level, we’ll send you one of the cool jackets we’re making for this project. The jacket is a traditional varsity-style jacket made with 24 oz. Pendleton wool. The body is a rich, royal-looking purple and the sleeves are black. The shoulders have stone colored leather gussets. The back of the jacket has a large version of the band’s logo on it. We expect these jackets to be great for our winter events keeping us toasty warm while we’re parading and performing. We just know they’ll keep you warm too! You’ll love wearing this great jacket as a badge of your support. Estimated delivery date: Feb-Mar 2013

Concert AND a Jacket!!! For support at this level, we’ll put on a one hour concert for your group in the Portland-Metropolitan area here in Oregon on a mutually agreed-upon date during 2013. We’ll also throw in one of the awesome jackets we’re having made for this project (details above). Better be careful, though. We may mistake you for one of us and put you to ‘work’ performing with the band! Estimated jacket delivery date: Feb-Mar 2013
